Felt Cute, Might Delete Later
Do you know that one person who shares every little bit of their life online? You know the one. They post about every relationship from start to finish, what they had for every meal, and express every feeling they’ve ever had for all of their friends and followers to see. And, hey, maybe you’re that person.
There’s nothing wrong with sharing the details of your life if that’s what you’re comfortable with! A lot of people turn to social media for emotional feedback. Maybe they feel a little lonely, or feel too nervous to reach out to a friend directly. Maybe they just like sharing. That’s okay. What we all have to recognize is that everything we do ends up creating a digital footprint…sometimes for life. Next time before you post, take a moment and reflect on what the you in 15 years will think about that particular photo being linked to in the search results for your name forever. Will it hurt your career? Will your future kids or future students or future constituents throw a little side-eye when they find it? Let this video be a guide for planning out your own digital footprint.
